Welcome to Katherine Dunn's Research Group

Welcome to the webpage of Katherine Dunn’s research group at the University of Edinburgh. The group is part of the School of Engineering and the School’s Institute for Bioengineering.

Our mission is to re-engineer biological molecules or systems and use them in new technologies that solve real-world problems in areas such as medicine and energy.

In particular, we aim to:

  • invent new devices or systems that will make electricity generation and storage better, cheaper and more environmentally friendly than at present
  • investigate novel ways to diagnose, treat or prevent disease, with a view to enhancing human health

We are also interested in using our knowledge of bionanotechnology to address unanswered biological or biomedical questions.
