School of Engineering Lecturer Dr Katherine Dunn has been awarded Fellowship of the Institute of Physics.
The Institute of Physics is the professional body and learned society for physics in the UK and Ireland. Its members include physicists, engineers, academics, industry specialists, teachers and many others.
Fellowship is the most senior grade of membership, awarded following rigorous peer review by an Institute of Physics panel. The award is given in recognition of excellence, academic distinction and significant contributions to the sector.
Dr Dunn was invited to apply for Fellowship of the Institute of Physics after being named as one of the Top 50 Women in Engineering 2021 by the Women’s Engineering Society (WES).
Reacting to the news, Dr Dunn said, "I am delighted that I have been given this honour. I am grateful to my colleagues who wrote letters of recommendation for me and I look forward to interacting with the wider community of Fellows in due course."
